Pastors as Rockstars?

July 13th, 2010

Does anyone else besides me think that when pastors become rockstars things go wrong?  I’ve been working on a book this summer about pastoral ecclesiology.  I’m trying to argue that multiple-elder leadership means multiple senior pastors.  I think this is much more faithful to the picture of leadership we see in the New Testament.

I’ve been blogging about these things over at Pillar on the Rock, which is run by some friends of mine.  But today I was really encouraged to read some things that Ed Stetzer wrote over on Tim Challies blog.  Right now I’m too lazy to link to everything, and I’m trying to motivate myself to get back to blogging.  But, if anyone is reading this, find Stetzer’s article about pastors as rockstars, and read it.  Then follow the links and watch/listen to his message given at the Verge conference in Texas.  All I have to say is: Amen, and amen.
